Court Interpreter Application Form and Instructions

Application Form

Individuals may apply to become a registered court interpreter by completing and submitting the Court Interpreter Certification Program Application Form. The Application Form may also be obtained from the OEAC. Applicants must:

  • be at least 18 years of age;
  • possess a Hawai‘i general excise tax license number;
  • be authorized to work in the United States;
  • swear they have read and will abide by the Code of Professional Conduct for Court Interpreters; and
  • acknowledge they are not entitled to Judiciary employee benefits.

Reciprocity

An interpreter may request the Judiciary to waive certain requirements of the Court Interpreter Certification Program based on completion of equivalent components conducted or administered by other entities, including those listed on the Application Form. Requests for reciprocity will be considered on a case-by-case basis and require documentation of all credential(s).
