Douglas Askman is an associate professor of history at Hawai`i Pacific University. He has visited approximately 150 national, state, and provincial supreme courts in the Americas, Europe, Asia, and the Pacific.

This presentation will examine and compare the supreme courts of over 50 different jurisdictions in Europe. It will look at the architecture, decoration, and history of supreme court buildings and courtrooms. It will also consider the structure and organization of various European supreme courts and highlight similarities and differences with the American judicial system.
