Posted on Jan 5, 2016 in Press Releases

Wailuku, HI- The Second Circuit Court, Hoapili Hale, is closed (as of noon today) due to a sewage water leak.  Maintenance crews have shut off all water to the building and clean-up efforts are underway.

The Chief Justice issued an order extending deadlines on the cases that are affected. All documents due during the court closure will be considered timely if filed by the close of business on Wednesday, January 6, 2016. Hearings or trials cancelled due to the closure of the courts shall be rescheduled to the next available date with due regard for any statutory mandates.

The closure is limited to Hoapili Hale and does not impact any other Second Circuit (Maui) court offices and buildings, including the Lahaina and Hana District Courts, Maui Drug Court, Children’s Justice Center, Adult Client Services (probation), and the Drivers Education Office.

Hoapili Hale is expected to reopen for business as usual tomorrow, Wednesday, January 6, 2016. We will provide updates if there are any changes or additional closures.
