Second Circuit Court Upgrades Security System

Posted on Sep 29, 2015 in Press Releases

WAILUKU —The Second Circuit Court will be upgrading its security system configuration beginning October 9, 2015. The system will consolidate its third and fourth-floor security modules into a single first-floor security station.

All visitors will access Hoapili Hale courthouse through this single entryway and proceed through the security station featuring an x-ray machine and magnetometer before accessing other floors of the courthouse.

Court-security personnel will be assigned to the Wells Street side elevator, which serves all six floors of the courthouse. The public will continue to exit the building either through the first-floor corridor or take the elevator directly to the parking levels.

“We want to thank the public for their patience and cooperation during this transition,” said Chief Circuit Judge Joseph Cardoza. “The updated security configuration brings us one important step closer to national best practice standards and the security recommendations we have received from the National Center for State Courts. It will also more efficiently encompass the top floors of the courthouse while helping us to better ensure the safety of Judiciary visitors and staff, property and documents.”
