The Hawaii Supreme Court will hear oral argument on Tuesday, February 8, at 2:00 p.m. at the William S. Richardson School of Law, Moot Courtroom.  

This is the first time that the Supreme Court has held oral argument at the law school, and is part of the court’s effort to make its proceedings more accessible to the public.

Attorneys on each side will have a half hour to present arguments in the case, State v. Tominiko. Tominiko, the party filing the appeal, is asking the Supreme Court to review the July 15, 2010 decision of the Intermediate Court of Appeals (ICA). The ICA affirmed the District Court of the First Circuit’s December 1, 2008 judgment convicting Tominiko of Operating a Vehicle Under the Influence of an Intoxicant.

The ICA’s opinion, a brief description of the issues being challenged, and the names of the justices hearing the case and attorneys involved are on the Judiciary’s website at /courts/oral_arguments/oral_arguments_schedule.

Oral arguments are open to the public.
