Chief Justice Mark Recktenwald has selected R. Mark Browning as Senior Judge of the Family Court in the First Circuit.

Judge Browning served as a district family court judge from 1997 until 2010, when he became a circuit court judge. Prior to his appointment to the family court, Judge Browning was a partner with the law firm Shim Tam Kirimitsu Kitamura & Chang. He also served as a deputy prosecuting attorney for the City and County of Honolulu.

“Judge Browning has a wealth of experience at family court and cares deeply about Hawaii’s children and families. I am confident that Judge Browning will provide strong leadership as senior judge,” said CJ Recktenwald.

Judge Browning’s assignment is effective March 4, 2011. He will succeed Judge Sabrina McKenna, who will be sworn in as an Associate Justice of the Hawai’i Supreme Court on March 3 at 4:15 p.m. in the Supreme Court Courtroom.
