Detention Home Juveniles and Staff Evacuated
Posted on Jan 18, 2007 in Press ReleasesTen juveniles housed at the Judiciary’s Juvenile Detention Home (DH) on Alder Street, along with seven DH employees, were taken to the hospital this afternoon after experiencing symptoms apparently caused by fumes from a resurfacing project at the facility.
As a precautionary measure, DH officials took the juveniles and staff to the hospital as soon as they began complaining of symptoms including headaches and nausea and after notifying the juveniles’ parents.
DH officials were informed by the contractor that the materials used in the resurfacing were non toxic.
