Kawamura and McWhinnie Sworn In
Posted on Dec 21, 2015 in Featured NewsOn Thursday, December 17, 2015, the Hawaii State Supreme Court convened in special session for the purpose of inducting Shirley M. Kawamura into office as Judge of the Circuit Court of the First Circuit, and James C. McWhinnie as Judge of the District Court of the First Circuit.
The oath of office was administered by Chief Justice Mark E. Recktenwald. Guest speakers were, in order of presentation: Gregory K. Markham, Hawaii State Bar Association President; Judge Jeannette Castagnetti, First Circuit Court; James A. Kawachika, Judicial Selection Commission Chair; Ronette M. Kawakami, Judicial Selection Commission; Representative Scott K. Saiki, Hawaii State House of Representatives; Senator Will Espero, Hawaii State Senate; and Governor David Ige, State of Hawaii.
Chief Justice Recktenwald administers the Oath of Office to Shirley M. Kawamura. Judge Kawamura will serve a ten-year term from December 17, 2015 to December 16, 2025.
Chief Justice Recktenwald administers the Oath of Office to James C. McWhinnie. Judge McWhinnie will serve a six-year term from December 17, 2015, to December 16, 2021.
