Posted on May 19, 2015 in Featured News

Chief Justice Mark E. Recktenwald addressed 118 graduates of the University of Hawaii William S. Richardson School of Law gathered in the Andrews Amphitheatre for their commencement ceremony on Sunday afternoon, May 17, 2015. He discussed efforts to increase access to justice in civil cases, and urged the graduates to commit themselves to providing pro bono service.”

“Ensuring that every person’s voice is heard when their legal rights are threatened is not a luxury—rather it is at the very foundation of the legitimacy of our courts, and therefore, our democracy,” said Chief Justice Recktenwald.

He concluded by asking the class of 2015 graduates to rededicate themselves to the commitment they made when they started law school – to “endeavor always to seek justice.”
