We invite you to celebrate Pride Month at Aliʻiōlani Hale. Learn about the journey toward equality for all in Hawaiʻi’s uniquely multicultural landscape. Associate Justice Sabrina McKenna, former Associate Justice Steven Levinson, and attorney and former Intermediate Court of Appeals Associate Judge Daniel Foley will discuss the Supreme Court’s groundbreaking decision in Baehr v. Lewin (1993), which propelled Hawaiʻi onto the global stage by embracing marriage equality.

The program will conclude in the rotunda of Aliʻiōlani Hale with a debut of the new traveling exhibition, “Kaulike No Nā Mea A Pau: Toward Queer Justice in Hawaiʻi,” a collaboration between Lei Pua ʻAla Queer Histories of Hawaiʻi and the King Kamehameha V Judiciary History Center. Dean Hamer, Curator/Project Director of Lei Pua ʻAla will moderate the panel discussion.

While the Hawaiʻi State Judiciary provides a venue for diverse discussion, the speaker’s remarks do not necessarily represent opinions of the Judiciary.
