DWI Court Participant Photo Places 3rd in National Art Contest

Art therapy has been used in addiction treatment since the 1950s. Research shows that art is a powerful tool for conveying the emotions and ideas related to recovery that may be difficult to verbalize.

As part of National Drug Court Month 2022, the National Association of Drug Court Professionals (NADCP) hosted the “Art of Recovery” art contest for treatment court participants and alumni across the country. A photograph submitted by a participant in the Honolulu DWI Court placed third in this year’s photography category.
