Shimozono and Yoo Sworn In

Family, friends, and colleagues overflowed from the Supreme Court courtroom on August 30, 2018 as Kenneth J. Shimozono and Kristine Y. Yoo were sworn in as Judges of the District Court of the First Circuit. Shimozono will serve as a District Court Judge and Yoo has been assigned as a District Family Court Judge.

The oath of office was administered by Chief Justice Mark E. Recktenwald. Guest speakers were Hawaii State Bar Association President Howard K.K. Luke; Hawaii State Trial Judges Association President James H. Ashford; Judicial Selection Commission Chair Dr. Jackie Young; Majority Leader of the House of Representatives Della Au Belatti; and Senate President Ronald D. Kouchi.

Judges Shimozono and Yoo will serve six-year terms through August 2024.
