County of Hawaii Mayor Harry Kim joined the October 19, 2017 festivities honoring the most recent graduate of the Big Island Veterans Treatment Court in Hilo. Nine United States military veterans have now successfully completed the intensive two-year program.
“Our veterans have served our country and we have the obligation to help them to regain their health, relationships, and place in our society,” said Third Circuit Court Chief Judge and Hilo Big Island Veterans Treatment Court presiding Judge Greg Nakamura.
The Veterans Treatment Court takes a holistic approach with each participant undergoing extensive treatment and counseling. Many services are provided by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs at no cost to the state.
