KAILUA-KONA, HI – May is “National Drug Court Month,” which celebrates the many benefits drug courts bring to our communities through the successful treatment of drug offenders. The Big Island Drug Court (BIDC) is celebrating “National Drug Court Month” with a variety of events throughout May in Hilo and Kona.

May 8, 2017

39th Big Island Drug Court Graduation at Kona Drug Court
81-940 Halekii Street in Kealakekua at 9:00 a.m.

– The presenting of each graduate and recognizing his or her success in the program.

May 18, 2017

2017 Drug Court Appreciation Day at Hilo Drug Court
777 Kilauea Avenue in Hilo at 10:00 a.m.

– The Big Island Drug Court will acknowledge employers, sponsors, family members, and community members for their support of the drug court participants and the Drug Court Program.

40th Big Island Drug Court Graduation at Hilo Drug Court
777 Kilauea Avenue in Hilo at 1:30 p.m.

– The presenting of each graduate and recognizing his or her success in the program.

West Hawaii Civic Center at 11:30 a.m.

– The Big Island Drug Court will acknowledge employers, sponsors, family members, and community members for their support of our drug court participants and the Drug Court Program with a special luncheon.

Drug Court Community Service Project – Food Drive at KTA Superstores in Kailua-Kona to support the Food Basket
2:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

– Kona Drug Court participants will collect canned foods, bags of rice, and monetary gifts to support the Food Basket in feeding the hungry in our community.

May 31, 2017

Drug Court Community Service Project – Food Drive at KTA Superstores located on Puainako Street, Hilo
2:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

– The Hilo Drug Court participants will be collecting canned foods, bags of rice, and monetary gifts to support the Food Bank.

 

In addition to the Big Island Drug Court events scheduled for “National Drug Court Month,” the public is welcome to observe any Drug Court hearings. In Kona, drug court is held on Mondays, from 9:00 a.m. at Kona Drug Court, 81-940 Halekii Street in Kealakekua. In Hilo, drug court is held on Thursdays, from 1:00 p.m. at Hilo Drug Court, Hale Kaulike, 777 Kilauea Avenue.
