Court Administration

In Hawai`i, the Chief Justice is responsible for the administration of all courts in the State and appoints an administrative director of the courts to oversee judicial operations. The Office of the Administrative Director of the Courts provides a number of centralized staff services to all judicial divisions throughout the State.

The Office of the Administrative Director of the Courts reports directly to the Chief Justice and also appoints the Deputy Administrative Director of the Courts. The Office of the Deputy Administrative Director oversees three divisions: the Intergovernmental and Community Relations Division, the Support Services Division, and the Policy and Planning Division.Under the jurisdiction of the Intergovernmental and Community Relations Division are Staff Attorney, Public Affairs, Center for Alternative Dispute Resolution, Equality and Access to the Courts, Volunteers in Public Service, Special Projects/Legislative Office, Administrative Driver License Revocation, Judiciary History Center, Law Library, Children's Justice Centers, and Office of the Public Guardian.Under the jurisdiction of the Support Services Division are Fiscal and Support Services, Personnel, Telecommunication and Information Services, and Records Management.Finally, under the jurisdiction of the Policy and Planning Division are Budget, Statistics, Capital Improvement Projects, Planning and Program Evaluation, Internal Audit, Judicial Education and Resource Development, and Affirmative Action (EEO).
