Family Court Recruiting Volunteer Guardians for Abused Children
Posted on Nov 2, 2006 in Press ReleasesThe Hawai`i State Judiciary is seeking persons to help child abuse and neglect victims by becoming a Volunteer Guardian Ad Litem (VGAL) for the Fifth Circuit (Kaua`i).
VGALs are appointed by the court to represent the best interest of children in abuse and neglect cases. They also keep the court informed about the child’s welfare and the services being provided to the families.
Volunteers are required to complete a 40-hour training program, undergo criminal history and child abuse registry checks, be 21 years of age or older and be able to spend at least four hours a month working on a case.
