Judiciary Offers Free Seminar on Landlord-Tenant Law

The Hawai`i State Judiciary is sponsoring a free session on the topic of “Landlord-Tenant Law” at noon Wednesday, March 22, 2006, in the Supreme Court conference room, 417 South King Street in downtown Honolulu.

Attorneys Anne Anderson and Michael Kalish will provide an overview of the landlord-tenant law and give information to help landlords and tenants understand their rights and responsibilities.

Anderson is a partner in the law firm of Neeley & Anderson LLP, a limited liability law partnership. She practices in the areas of community association law and landlord-tenant law. She co-authored the Hawai`i District Court Landlord-Tenant manual, Residential and Commercial Evictions in Hawai`i handbook, and Evictions: Residential and Commercial in Hawai`i manual. Anderson received her law degree from DePaul University.

Kalish is currently in private practice. He practices in the areas of real estate and landlord-tenant law. Previously, he was with the Housing Law Unit at the Legal Aid Society of Hawai`i Honolulu office and has served as a law clerk for Judge Shackley Raffetto. He is a graduate of the William S. Richardson School of Law.

This “Lunch ‘n’ Learn the Law” program is part of a series of free informational seminars for the general public featuring topics relating to specific areas of the law and the courts. Volunteer presenters include judges, attorneys, court officials and other subject-matter experts.
