The Judiciary is pleased to announce the opening of the District Court of the First Circuit, Wai’anae Division at the new Kapolei Court Complex (“Kapolei Courthouse”) effective March 22, 2010.  The Kapolei Courthouse is located at 4675 Kapolei Parkway, Kapolei, Hawai’i, 96707 and the main phone number for the Wai’anae Division is 954-8575.

The major changes for the District Court that will accompany the opening of the Kapolei Courthouse are as follows:

Effective Friday, March 19, 2010, all Wai’anae Division court cases (traffic, criminal and civil) will no longer be heard at the courthouse located at 87-1784 Farrington Highway, Wai’anae, Hawai’i.  Wai’anae Division court cases scheduled to be heard after March 19, 2010 will be heard at the Kapolei Courthouse, Courtroom 1A, first floor.

All District Court traffic and criminal cases that are generated within the Honolulu Police Department’s District 8* will no longer be scheduled for the ‘Ewa Division at Pearl City, but will be scheduled to be heard at the Kapolei Courthouse, Courtroom 1A, first floor (as indicated on the citation, arrest report or notice by the officer).

All ‘Ewa Division traffic and criminal cases scheduled for the ‘Ewa Division court location at 870 Fourth Street, Pearl City, Hawai’i (as indicated on the citation, arrest report or notice by the officer) will remain as scheduled unless otherwise notified by court staff.  Parties and witnesses are advised to keep in contact with their attorneys.

Small claims civil cases filed after February 22, 2010 and arising in the Kapolei zip code (96707)** will be scheduled by the court to be heard at the Kapolei Courthouse.   Regular claims civil cases arising in the Kapolei zip code (96707)** that are served on or after March 9, 2010, will be heard at the Kapolei Courthouse. 

All ‘Ewa Division civil cases scheduled for the ‘Ewa Division court location at 870 Fourth Street, Pearl City, Hawai’i will remain as scheduled unless otherwise notified by court staff.

**Civil cases arising in the Kapolei zip code (pursuant to District Court Rules of Civil Procedure 3(c), as amended) will be assigned to the Wai’anae Division instead of the ‘Ewa Division.
