A double celebration occurred in the Fifth Circuit on May 23, 2022, when 10 people graduated from Kauai Drug Court and one graduated from Veterans Court.

The Honorable Deputy Chief Judge Michael K. Soong presided over the graduation hearing for the 39th class of Drug Court graduates. They joined 270 adult clients before them who also entered with felony offenses and addressed substance addiction, paid court-ordered fines and fees in full, and re-entered society.

Veterans Court was established in 2017 and has six graduates to date.

Family, friends, and off-island treatment providers from the Department of Veterans Affairs and others were able to be in the courtrooms or participate by Zoom.
