Judge Melvin Fujino recognized the achievements of the Big Island Veterans Treatment Court’s 14th graduate at a recent ceremony in Kona.
Supporters and staff of the Big Island Veterans Treatment Court held a ceremony for the program’s 14th graduate on June 17, 2019, at the Keakealani Building in Kealakekua.
The Veterans Treatment Court utilizes a holistic approach, helping participants address addiction and mental health issues through extensive treatment and counseling. The program also assists them with finding housing and employment to regain the chance for a successful life. Many services are provided by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs at no cost to the state.
