Mediation

If you are involved in a dispute, consider mediation before taking your case to trial. In mediation, you and the other party, with the help of a trained mediator, decide what is a fair solution. Learn about the advantages of mediation and whether it can be effective for your case.

Small Claims

Your case may be referred to mediation before going to trial. Learn more about mediation for small claims.

Divorce

If you and your spouse want to reach an agreement without using lawyers or going to court, you can meet with a mediator from a community mediation center. There may be a nominal mediation fee.

Probate Cases

The Probate Court has a mediation program for contested probate, contested trust and contested guardianship of property cases. Requires Adobe Acrobat Reader, which is free.

Community Mediation Centers

Community mediation centers provide volunteer mediators statewide to assist in the resolution of various types of disputes. Call a center on your island, or in your county, for more information.
