The University of Hawai`i Center for Biographical Research and the King Kamehameha V Judiciary History Center present a free public program on the life of Joseph Nawahi, respected lawyer, legislator, journalist, educator, artist, and chief advisor to Queen Lili`uokalani.
The program, scheduled on Wednesday, May 20, 2009, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., will feature a panel of Hawaiian History scholars and segments of a new PBS documentary exploring the life of Joseph Nawahi. Craig Howes, Director, University of Hawai`i Center for Biographical Research; Victoria Kneubuhl, writer playwright; Jonathan Osorio, Associate Professor, Kamakakuokalani Center for Hawaiian Studies; and Kalena Silva, Director, Ka Haka `Ula O Ke`elikolani College of Hawaiian Language, will share the complex life of a remarkable Hawaiian man during a pivotal time in Hawaii's history.
The program will be held at the King Kamehameha V Judiciary History Center, located in Ali`iolani Hale, 417 S. King Street, Honolulu. Reservations are required.
