Judiciary Offers Free Seminar on Legal Research on the Internet

The Hawai`i State Judiciary is sponsoring a free public informational session, "Legal Research on the Internet," from noon to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, in the Supreme Court Conference Room, 417 South King Street.

Hawai`i State Supreme Court Law Librarian Ann Koto will give a presentation on the basics of doing legal research on the Internet. Web sites that are considered some of the best for locating primary legal resources will be reviewed. Koto will also cover the basics on how to access court information on Ho`ohiki, the database of statewide criminal and civil Circuit and Family Court case records available on the Hawai`i State Judiciary Web site. The documents are intended for use as reference material only, not as official records. All information available through Ho`ohiki is considered non-confidential.

This session is part of the "Lunch 'n' Learn the Law" program, a series of free seminars for the general public featuring topics relating to specific areas of the law and the courts. Volunteer presenters include judges, attorneys, court officials and other subject-matter experts.
