Chief Justice's Photo in Campaign Material
The Chief Justice learned today that a person seeking election to a seat in the Hawai`i House of Representatives has used his picture in a campaign flyer. The picture was taken when the Chief Justice administered oaths to individuals serving on State boards and commissions and was used without the Chief Justice's permission. The Chief Justice is prohibited from publicly endorsing or opposing political candidates and has not done so. By letter mailed today, the Chief Justice has asked the person seeking office to immediately stop using his picture.
