Oahu and Kauai County Courts Closed Thursday and Friday

HONOLULU — Oahu and Kauai courthouses will be closed Thursday and Friday, the Hawaii State Judiciary announced. This includes the previously scheduled Community Outreach Court which was to be held Friday at the Waianae Public Library.

As a result of the closures, Hawaii Supreme Court Acting Chief Justice Paula A. Nakayama has issued an order extending any Oahu (First Circuit) and Kauai (Fifth Circuit) court matters with filing or hearing due dates of Aug. 23 or 24 until Monday, Aug. 27. All documents due to have been filed shall be deemed to have been timely filed if they are filed by the close of business on Aug. 27, 2018.

In addition, hearings or trials cancelled due to the closure of the courts will be rescheduled by the Judiciary to the next available date with due consideration for any statutory mandates.

Judiciary employees should not report to work Thursday and Friday, unless they are contacted by their supervisors to provide required services.

The Judiciary announced yesterday the closure of the Hawaii Island and Maui County courts for the rest of the week.
