Judge Lloyd Poelman
Prior to his appointment as a Second Circuit District Family Court judge on December 13, 2013, Lloyd A. Poelman had been with the law partnership of Poelman and Langa in Wailuku, Maui since 1999 where he handled civil litigation (including insurance defense and plaintiff’s work), bankruptcy, property transactions and property disputes, along with a general practice. While working as an attorney, Judge Poelman served as a part-time per diem judge for the Family District Court of the Second Circuit since 2005 until his fulltime judge appointment. He served on the Maui Redevelopment Agency from 2002 until 2008, the last year as its chair.
Judge Poelman graduated from the University of Utah Magna Cum Laude with a BA in 1982 and a degree of Juris Doctor from J. Reuben Clark Law School, Brigham Young University, Provo in 1985.
