Judge Bode A. Uale
Judge Bode A. Uale was the first Family Court Judge of Samoan descent appointed in the United States. He has been serving on the bench since August of 1991.
He is the current Lead Judge of the First Circuit Family Court’s Juvenile Division. He has a strong interest in foster youth. He played a pivotal part in the first ten “Ohana is Forever” conferences which are focused on the success and well-being of foster youth.
Judge Uale is also the presiding judge of the Honolulu Family Drug Court which has been in operation since 2003. He received a BA in political science from Brigham Young Universty-Hawaii and a Juris Doctorate in 1984 from the University of Hawaii William S. Richardson School of Law. He was raised in Laie, Hawaii and is married to his wife Beth. They are parents to four children.
