NOTICE OF PETITION FOR RETENTION IN JUDICIAL OFFICE

The Judicial Selection Commission, State of Hawai‘i, announces that the terms of the Honorable Barbara P. Richardson as District Judge of the First Circuit Court, State of Hawai‘i, will expire on May 4, 2012. Judge Richardson, in accordance with Section 3, Article VI of the Constitution of the State of Hawai‘i, has petitioned to be retained in office and to be renewed for an additional term. The Constitution of the State of Hawai‘i empowers the Commission to determine whether Judge Richardson should be retained in office for an additional term of six years.

The Commission invites interested persons to submit written comments on whether Judge Richardson should be retained in office for a new term. All comments will be kept CONFIDENTIAL. Written comments must be post-marked, faxed, or delivered to the Commission’s address below not later than Friday, February 3, 2012.
