ORDER EXEMPTING TRAFFIC AND ADMINISTRATIVE DRIVER’S

LICENSE REVOCATION OFFICE CASES FROM THE REQUIREMENTS OF

THE HAWAII ELECTRONIC FILING AND SERVICE RULES

(By: Moon, C.J., for the court1)

By order filed August 30, 2010, this court adopted the Hawaii Electronic Filing and Service Rules (HEFSR).  HEFSR Rule 2.1 makes the HEFSR applicable to all cases included in the Judiciary Information Management System (JIMS) and HEFSR Rule 4.1 requires attorneys with cases in JIMS to register for electronic filing, unless exempted.  Traffic cases and cases filed in the Administrative Driver’s License Revocation Office (ADLRO) are included in JIMS, but the traffic and ADLRO case types are not yet technically ready for electronic filing.  Therefore,

IT IS HEREBY ORDERED, pursuant to HEFSR Rules 2.1 and 4.1 and until further order of this court, that (1) the HEFSR shall not apply to traffic and ADLRO cases and (2) all documents for traffic and ADLRO cases shall be conventionally filed.

DATED: Honolulu, Hawaii, August 31, 2010.
